Supporting the people behind the strategy.
Most hard decisions in school leadership get made with no time to think them through. Coaching gives you that time, in a structured, confidential space with someone whose only interest is helping you see the problem clearly.
I coach headteachers, senior leaders, middle leaders and executive teams. I spent more than thirteen years in senior leadership myself, so the conversations start from the job as it really is.
You do the thinking and make the decisions. My job is to ask the questions that help.
Four kinds of coaching.
Tailored to where you are in your leadership, and what you need now.
Professional growth coaching
For anyone at a professional crossroads: ready for the next step, unsure which direction to take, or stuck. We work towards a clear decision and the confidence to act on it.
- Getting clear about personal and professional goals
- Building motivation, focus and momentum
- Overcoming barriers and getting unstuck
Executive coaching
For middle and senior leaders who want to get better at the job they already have. A confidential space to think strategically, understand your own habits as a leader and make good decisions under pressure.
- Clarifying leadership goals, priorities and challenges
- Strengthening strategic and systems thinking
- Embedding sustainable leadership habits and behaviours
Digital strategy coaching
For leaders responsible for technology and AI in their school or organisation. I coach on the leadership side of digital change: what the technology is for, how to tell whether it is working, and how to bring people with you.
- Aligning digital strategy with educational, pedagogical and organisational goals
- Avoiding digital distraction, overload and gimmickry
- Building confident, purposeful digital habits that last
Team coaching and coaching skills
For schools and organisations that want coaching to become part of how teams and line managers work. Staff learn to use coaching principles in everyday conversations, which builds trust, accountability and better professional dialogue.
- Embedding coaching approaches into leadership and line management
- Strengthening communication, trust and psychological safety
- Helping teams reflect on their work and run themselves
Coaching credentials.
I have coached colleagues for over thirteen years, first as a senior leader in schools. I am ILM Level 7 trained in executive coaching and leadership mentoring, the same level as a master’s degree, and I work to the ILM’s ethical code with every client.
I draw on several approaches, Andy Buck’s BASIC model among them, and use whichever suits the person in front of me.
