How Azimuth Partners Ltd collects, uses and looks after your personal information. Last updated October 2026.
Who we are
This website is run by Azimuth Partners Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 16360004), whose registered office is Snaffles, Downton Hill, Salisbury SP5 2JF. We are the controller of the personal information described here. If you have a question about it, email jose@azimuth.org.uk.
What we collect, and why
- Your email address, when you subscribe to The Compass or download a free guide. When you subscribe, our lawful basis is your consent. When you download a guide, we keep your address on a list for that guide. If it is a work address, such as one at your school, we also send you The Compass, our monthly newsletter, on the basis of our legitimate interest in sharing our work with people who work in education. If it is a personal address, we send The Compass only if you tick the box for it. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- What you tell us when you get in touch, such as your name, school and the details of your enquiry. We use it to reply and, if we work together, to run the engagement. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, or the contract between us.
- Your name, email and order details, if you buy a report or book a place on a session. If you ask for an invoice, we also keep the billing name, address and email you give us, and any purchase order number. Card payments are handled by our payment provider, who processes your card details; we never see or store them. Our lawful basis is the contract between us, and we keep the records the law requires for tax and accounting.
- Your answers to the Digital Strategy Maturity Assessment, with your name, email, school and role. We use them to write and send your report and to follow up about it, on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to your request. We also study answers across schools, without names, to understand what schools are prioritising and how they are developing, and may publish what we learn about schools in general, never about one school or person. The newsletter and the one-year reminder are sent only if you ask for them. If you answer as part of a team, colleagues who also answer see your answers by role, never by name.
- Your name, email address and comment, if you comment on an article. If you sign in with LinkedIn, LinkedIn shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We show only your name, and the role you add if you choose to. Your email address is never shown, and we don’t use the picture. Our lawful basis is your consent. You can delete your comments yourself, or ask us to delete your account.
- Basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider records in server logs to keep the site secure and working.
Information from schools we work with
When a school engages Azimuth, we may ask them to complete a short form and share documents before a visit. We use this only to prepare for and carry out that work. It is stored securely in the UK, seen only by José Picardo, and deleted twelve months after the work ends. Please don’t include information about individual pupils. The lawful basis is the contract with the school, or our legitimate interest in delivering the work it has asked for. You can ask to see, correct or delete this information at any time by emailing jose@azimuth.org.uk.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site and the newsletter: MailerLite, which sends The Compass and stores subscriber details; Vercel, which hosts this website and counts visits anonymously; Anthropic, which writes the assessment reports and checks new comments for spam before we read them, in the United States, and does not use them to train its models; Supabase, which stores assessments, comments, sign-ins and information from schools we work with, in London; Resend, which sends the report emails, sign-in codes and the messages from the contact form; and Stripe, which takes card payments for reports and sessions. Each processes information only on our instructions. Some of them store data outside the UK; where they do, they use safeguards approved under UK data protection law, such as standard contractual clauses. We never sell your information or share it for anyone else’s marketing.
Cookies
This website does not track you across other sites, and sets no cookies unless you sign in to comment. It counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and records no personal information: only anonymous totals such as which pages are read and which sites visitors arrive from. It stores in your browser only that you have seen the note about cookies, so it is not shown again, and, if you start the assessment, your unfinished answers for up to 14 days, so you can pick up where you left off. They are removed when you finish.
If you sign in to comment, the site sets a cookie that keeps you signed in. Commenting can’t work without it, so it doesn’t need your consent, and it goes when you sign out.
Some articles include a video or podcast. Nothing loads from YouTube or Simplecast until you press play; once you do, that service may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
- Comments: until you delete them or ask us to.
- Enquiries: for up to two years after we last corresponded, unless we go on to work together.
- Purchase and client records: for six years, as required for tax purposes.
- Session bookings that were never paid: deleted after 30 days.
- Assessments: for 24 months. After that we delete your name, email, school, written answers and report. We keep only your ratings, your role as senior leader, middle leader, teacher or other, the school’s type, size, region and funding, and the quarter in which you answered, with nothing that links them to you, for research.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive a copy to take elsewhere. Email jose@azimuth.org.uk and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
