CASE STUDY · PEERSCROLLER · STRATEGIC CONSULTANCY
Strategic advisory work with an edtech company.
A view from the other side of the table for the team building Peerscroller, a digital wellbeing platform for young people.

CONTEXT
A serious product, built for young people.
Peerscroller is a digital wellbeing platform built by Yipiyap for use by young people. The team behind it understand the problem they are addressing and have built a serious product. What Anne Morris, Founder and CEO, was looking for when she got in touch was a view from the other side of the table.
Anne came across my work through an article I wrote that made a case she recognised about the limits of ‘screen time’ as a category. She wrote to see if we might have a useful conversation.
THE PARTNERSHIP
A view from the other side of the table.
I work with Peerscroller as a strategic adviser, offering perspective on the independent sector, on how heads and senior leaders make decisions about new platforms, and on how the product’s positioning lands with the people it is being designed for.
The relationship is conversational and reflective. The emphasis is on dialogue, honest questions, and bringing a school leader’s view to a product team that already has the technical and pedagogical expertise it needs.
FOCUS OF THE WORK
Where the partnership has centred.
- Acting as a sounding board on product and positioning decisions
- Bringing a school leader’s perspective to procurement and adoption questions
- Pressure-testing language and messaging for senior school audiences
- Supporting the CEO with reflective conversations on strategic direction
- Sharing sector intelligence on how new platforms succeed or stall in schools
IMPACT
Sharper thinking about place and language.
The work has helped Peerscroller think more sharply about its place in the independent sector and the language that will land with the school leaders it wants to reach. Anne describes the work as helpful and practical.
For a company determined to build something serious and useful for schools, that kind of grounded perspective makes a difference to the decisions that get taken next.
IN THEIR WORDS
What Peerscroller say.

“Yipiyap has created a platform and app called Peerscroller designed for use by young people and I was keen to get José’s take on our work. I could see that his expertise in supporting schools with digital change would provide a helpful perspective on Peerscroller and, as José is a regular speaker at conferences across the country, I was confident that he would be an excellent sounding board.
José’s approach from the start was warm and professional, showing generosity of spirit and a constructive, encouraging manner. His insights on our platform were helpful and practical and I have no doubt that he brings the same skills to his work with schools, and that any education setting would benefit from his expertise. The digital landscape can be extremely tricky for schools to navigate. Everything changes so fast. José gives purposeful direction in a calm and commercially pragmatic way.”
